Tree Planting

73,000 trees planted at RE-GEN EVENTS....and counting!

The amalgamation between the not-for-profit Dragon Dreaming Festival and that of the Regrowth Tree planting festival (REGEN Eco-projects) has made us one, and ready to bring you a ‘leave a positive trace’ festival that we can all be part of. Dragon Dreaming Festival will now add to the 73,000 native plants we have planted together to date at Regrowth Festivals.

Going forward, an integral part of Dragon Dreaming Festival will be restoration of the land through a large scale ongoing revegetation project.

The simple act of planting a tree has a positive impact on both the Earth and the tree planter. For many, Dragon Dreaming Festival will be the first opportunity they will ever have to contribute to the environment in this way and can have lasting effects of re-connecting and awareness raising.

Tree planting will take place on the Saturday and Sunday of the festival from 8am - 5pm at various locations. There will be a limited supply of tools and gloves so if you can bring your own it will ensure there is enough to go around.

Regrowth festival attendees have successfully rehabilitated areas of degraded land at three previous sites over the past 15 years through planting of a grand total of 73,000 trees and now this will continue at Wee Jasper with the following outcomes:

Environmental

  • Control / remediate erosion
  • Support and promote bio-diverse life
  • Help reduce carbon in the atmosphere
  • Create habitat corridors
  • Control water siltation issues

Social / Community

  • Share and increase environmental awareness
  • Provide a hands on opportunity for taking environmental action
  • Build community
  • Re-connect with nature

Agriculture

  • Wind break for improved growth of grasses for grazing
  • Shade for livestock

A 3 year Revegetation Management Plan for the Wee Jasper site has been developed and provides for methodical pre, during and post management across the duration of the revegetation project.
